*Under anti-money laundering law, you have to supply documents to prove who you are and where you live. There are a number of ways that you can do this. You can prove your identity by producing any one of the following:
1. Proof of identity
- A valid passport/a current Irish drivers licence
- National age card (issued by An Garda Siochana)
- ML-10 form, an identification form with a photograph signed by an Garda Siochana
Photo ID must show proof of date of birth & recent photo. The ID must be current.
2. Proof of address (all items must be dated within the last three months.)
You will also need to provide one of the following documents with your name on it to prove where you live:
- A current utility (household) bill e.g. ESB, Phone
- Bank or Building Society Statement
- Document issued by Government Departments showing your address
- A letter from a government department e.g. letter from social welfare
- A current car / home insurance policy that shows your address
- A list of tax credits
- A current balancing statement or a C2 certificate from the Revenue
- Social insurance document that shows your address
- A letter from your employer/licensed agency (FAS) stating that you have recently arrived in Ireland and have started work but cannot yet provide evidence of an address (evidence of your address will have to be provided at a later date). This must be signed and stamped.
3. Proof of PPSN**
If you open up an account that pays interest on your money, you also need to supply your PPSN. This is available on your;
- Tax cert, payslip, social service card, letter from the department of social services.
- Alternatively, you can obtain a Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) by contacting the department of social and family affairs at 01-7043236
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN FOR ANYONE UNDER 16 YEARS
1. Proof of identity*
You can prove your identity by producing one of the following items;
- A valid passport for a child; for children 7 years plus, photographic ID must be provided; if the child has no passport a current passport photograph must be supplied with the application.
- Full version of child’s birth certificate
PLUS
- Photo ID for parent/grandparent
2. Proof of address
You will also need one of the following documents with your name on it to prove where your child lives: All documents must be dated within the last three months, accounts can only be opened at the child’s current address.
If the parents/guardians are members evidence of their account will suffice
If the parents/guardians are not members the following items are required;
- A current utility (household) bill e.g. ESB, Phone
- A current car / home insurance policy that shows your address
- Document issued by Government Departments showing the parents address
- A list of tax credits for the parents
- Social insurance document that shows the parents address
3. Proof of PPSN, Personal Public Service Number**
If you open up an account that pays interest on your money, you also need to supply your PPSN.
- Social Service Card for the child
- Letter from the department of Social & Family Affairs confirming their PPS number
